Pie Recipes
Everyone likes deserts, both young and old start to drool when they hear about different deserts and sweets. And of all these deserts are nothing compared to the amazing taste of pies, although pies can be sweet, sour and salty, but in most cases they are sweet. And this sweet taste is the reason for many people to prefer pies for their deserts. However, pies can be bough from a store or cooked manually and we can assure you that there is nothing better than cooking your own pie and consuming it. Because the handmade desert is always better than the one bought from the store. If you look around the internet you can find many pie recipes that will be able to satisfy every taste. However there isn’t only one kind of pies. Except the ordinary pies which have no cover, there are also different cream pie recipes that offer pies with a proper glaze.
One of the most commonly used pie recipes is the apple pie recipes. It provides your family or friends with the amazing taste of apple that is sweeter than ever. You will need different ingredients in order to make the 2 parts of the pie. For the crust you will need 2 and a half cups of white flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, ¼ teaspoon of salt, half a cup of butter which is cut in small pieces, 5 tablespoons of cold vegetable shortening and 8 table spoons of water. For the filling you will require 2/3 cup of sugar, ¼ cup of flour, half a teaspoon of nutmeg, half a teaspoon of cinnamon, a pinch of salt, 8 medium apples and 2 table spoons of margarine.
Take a bowl and put the sugar, salt and flour in it and stir in order to combine them. Add the butter and the vegetable shortening in the bowl. Add the water and start mixing the concoction until it becomes thicker. Take the conjured dough and put it onto a floured surface, knead it and then divide in it half. Make each part flat and wrap it into a saran wrap, after which let it chill for half an hour. Take one of the circles and roll it until it becomes 12 inches in diameter.
For the filling you must peel and slice the apples, mix the flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt and sugar in a bowl. Blend the apples and pour them into the concoction. Put some margarine and cover it with the last disc of dough. Bake for almost an hour, or just until the crust becomes brown and filling starts to boil.
